Fans looking forward to seeing and hear more about “Elden Ring” might be getting lucky soon. The game’s official website was recently spotted donning a new audience rating suggesting some sort of announcement could be imminent.
‘Elden Ring’ receives provisional PEGI rating
What is good about this discovery is that the information comes directly from the official website of “Elden Ring” and not from a leak. Gaming Route was the first to spot that the one and only “Elden Ring” video teaser that automatically plays on the game’s page on the Bandai Namco Asia website is displaying a new detail right at the beginning of the media content.
As of this writing, the audience rating still appears on the “Elden Ring” promo video. The Pan European Game Information (PEGI) has classified “Elden Ring” as appropriate for audiences ages 16 and above. For now, this could give fans an idea of what kind of content the game has.

Per the classification board’s website, the “PEGI 16” rating means the game could have “depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life.” Games given this audience rating could also have a “more extreme” use of bad language and could portray the use of illegal substances, tobacco, and alcoholic beverage. Considering the scenes from the first trailers as well as how developers have described “Elden Ring” so far, the provided audience rating is hardly surprising.
It is also important to note that the PEGI rating given to “Elden Ring” is “provisional.” This could mean several things with the obvious one being that the rating could change before the game is officially released. It is also possible that the PEGI rating focuses on an upcoming teaser. In this case, it is not far-fetched to expect an all-new trailer soon — possibly one that has a release date or release window in it.
‘Elden Ring’ release date: What to expect
For now, it is best to expect a new “Elden Ring” trailer in the coming months, especially with E3 2021 happening in June. As for the release date, it is worth noting that there have been reports from late last year that the development of the game is close to completion. That provides a good chance for the title to be ready for a full release before the end of 2021.
