“Elden Ring” players will have plenty of new things to do in The Lands Between, thanks to the release of the new Colosseum update. Developer FromSoftware introduced new PvP modes that will be played in new arenas — all available to players for free.

The DLC just went live and introduced new PvP Colosseums, namely Caelid and Leyndell, situated in Limgrave. Both “Elden Ring” arenas will host an array of multiplayer combat trials, including classic 1v1 fights and team battles in up to 6v6 format. FromSoftware also added a free-for-all mode and a special combat mode where players can summon spirits.

Two new PvP modes will be the highlight of the Limgrave Colosseum, namely the new United Combat and Combat Ordeal modes. As the name suggests, the former will put players in two teams to fight in timed battles. As long as there is time on the clock, players will be able to respawn and rejoin the combat. But every kill and respawn will add points to the opposing team, and whoever has the highest score when the time runs out will be declared the winner.

“Elden Ring” also got a new free-for-all mode in Combat Ordeal. The same respawn rules apply as long as the fight’s duration is not over. But the player with the highest points or kills will ultimately win.

The one-on-one duels will be played in the Royal Colosseum, which “Elden Ring” players can find in Leyndell. Unlike the team-based and free-for-all modes, this mode does not allow respawns, and whoever gets the first kill wins. Meanwhile, the new Caelid arena can host all these combat modes, along with the new mode that lets players summon Spirit Ashes.

Along with the Colosseum DLC, FromSoftware released “Elden Ring” patch 1.08, and it is required to gain access to the new online PvP features.

“Elden Ring” version 1.08 also brings a slate of PvP-focused balance adjustments. For one, the developer has reduced the damage caused by a counterattack by thrusting weapons. The Incantation Bestial Sling’s poise damage and the Spell Carian Slicer’s power were also toned down. But FromSoftware noted that these changes would not be applied to single-player mode and in other cooperative plays.
