A Volkswagen ID.4 GTX electric vehicle powered by an LG Energy Solution Ltd. battery established a new Guinness World Record for the greatest height reached by an electric vehicle.
The EV successfully drove up Bolivia's dormant Uturuncu volcano, reaching a height of 5,816 meters.
It was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the greatest altitude rise among electric vehicles.
The ID.4 GTX is outfitted with a 77 kilowatt-hour high-capacity and high-performance battery from LG Energy Solutions, which provides a range of about 480 kilometers on a single charge.
This Guinness World Record attempt was organized by the Challenge4 team, which was created by experienced long-distance driver Rainer Zietlow, to demonstrate the safety and performance of EVs while also increasing customer trust.
In 2011, the Challenge4 team set a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous travel by electric car in a single nation, driving 56,000 kilometers through the 48 contiguous states of the US.
