After Starbucks unveiled a spring menu full of items like the Pistachio Latte and the Earth Cake Pop, Dunkin' followed suit with a warm-weather menu of Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew, the Salted Caramel Signature Latte, and the Shamrock Macchiato.
The Shamrock Macchiato has Irish Creme and vanilla flavors to mimic whiskey. It is also bright green.
Meanwhile, Dunkin’s "Salted Caramel" may seem familiar to many because Starbucks has offered similar drinks for years.
Starbucks pioneered the idea of cold brew and cold-foamed milk, which Dunkin' has also copied.
Dunkin' is targeting the millennial consumer with its new food lineup which includes such items as the Roasted Tomato & Hummus Toast and the Roasted Tomato & Avocado Toast, in homage to the image of a Generation Y customer who can't buy a home because all his or her money has gone toward avocado toast.
For the dessert lover, Dunkin' has introduced a new chocolate croissant with flaky crust and three chocolate batons, which may be a nod to Parisians' tendency to consume croissants at outdoor cafés in the spring.
Jill Nelson, vice president of marketing and culinary at Dunkin’, noted that with Spring being a season that brings adventure, optimism, and light-hearted fun, they wanted to capture that essence for their guests in the all-new lineup.
