Yosuke Saito, producer of “Dragon Quest X” has confirmed via Famitsu that a version of the game will be coming to the “Nintendo NX.” A “PS4” version was already confirmed previously and the developers are already expecting additional players to come amid the addition of newer consoles.
Right now, the tenth installment of the legendary franchise, which also happens to be a massively multiplayer role-playing game, is only available for the “Wii,” the “Wii U,” and “Windows PC.” By adding “PS4” players and future owners of the “NX” to the mix, Saito is anticipating an increase of users.
"I think there will be an influx of new players that peaks with the launch of the PS4 and NX editions", Saito told Famitsu and translated by IGN. "Up until then, rather than the incoming new players, we are doing our best for the people who are playing already."
Rumors about the development have been circulating the net since last year, Gamerant notes, with “Square Enix” accidentally leaking the details before doing damage control. At least, this time, the fact that more players will get to play the game is finally official.
Unfortunately, it would seem that there is yet no confirmation if the game is ever coming to the U.S. or any countries outside of Japan. The game came out in 2012, Gamespot reports, but it is still only available to Japanese players.
Perhaps the prospect of a “PS4” and “NX” release will finally convince developers that the game has a market in the West, thus allowing the MMORPG to be playable by American and European players. As of right now, fans of the game will just have to wait for Nintendo to come around. At least there’s hope that the game will expand now, even if it’s a small one.
