Republicans, both lawmakers, and citizens rejoiced at the news of President Donald Trump getting acquitted and surviving impeachment. White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham recently shared that Trump will want to take action on his enemies.
Politicalflare reports that Grisham appeared on Fox News to discuss what Trump’s next move after getting acquitted by the Senate. She said, “He and the family went through a lot, he and his country went through a lot. He’s glad it’s over, he’s certainly going to talk about that. But I think he’s going to also talk about how just horribly he was treated and that maybe people should pay for that.”
It was already previously reported that Trump is putting together a list of his enemies post-trial. What he may be planning to do with them remains unclear, but based on the events of the past few weeks, John Bolton, Jerry Nadler, Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, and Mitt Romney would likely be on the list. Trump reportedly lashed out at the Democrats during the National Prayer Breakfast a few days after the State of the Union address and the Senate’s acquittal, zeroing in on Pelosi and on Romney, who is the only Republican lawmaker who voted to convict him.
Meanwhile, the Democrats continue to look into their next moves after losing the impeachment trial. Politico reports that they are currently deliberating on looking into Trump’s treatment towards Ukraine, reviving the pace they previously set into investigating the so-called scandal. According to Schiff, who served as the Lead Impeachment prosecutor, they wanted to get through the trial, “And so we’ll have those conversations among our caucus, within leadership. Right now, we’re just trying to take stock of what just took place.”
Although Pelosi did not respond nor mention what they plan on doing regarding the Ukraine investigation, she implied that the Democrats will continue to investigate Trump, especially regarding his finances.
Regarding possible concerns that the Democrats would come off as overzealous following the Senate’s rejection of their case, Jason Crow, one of the impeachment prosecutors assured the public that they will continue to respond to abuses and threats even after the trial. Crow pointed out that they will not take the results of the trial as a sign to neglect their constitutional obligations.
