Dish Network Corporation revealed on Wednesday, July 26, that its Boost Infinite postpaid wireless brand has signed an agreement with Amazon.com for a partnership deal. The parties agreed that the e-commerce retailer would sell postpaid plans for wireless service on its platform.
The wireless plans will only be available on the U.S. version of Amazon. The company will add Boost Infinite’s Unlimited SIM kit to its e-commerce site, and this will be made available to subscribers of Amazon Prime for just $25 per month. For this price, users will get to enjoy unlimited talk, text, and data services.
It should be noted that Boost Infinite’s wireless plan is exclusively offered to Amazon Prime members, and it is not clear if the plan will be made available to non-subscribers later. Dish Network and Amazon did not reveal the financial terms of their agreement.
Reuters reported that this deal would be beneficial for Amazon because it may get more new signups for its Prime membership as people may want to avail of Boost Infinite’s unlimited wireless postpaid plan. Moreover, they are offering attractive rates for Amazon Prime members who want to avail of the SIM kit.
Those who will buy it from Amazon.com will instantly get a 20% discount from its $25 price. The discount is applied on top of a $25 bill credit toward their first month of service.
For Dish Network, the cooperation with Amazon will help it expand its wireless infrastructure while being able to cope and catch up with the tough competition in the wireless service industry. Finally, the Boost Infinite SIM kit sold via Amazon.com will be shipped for free, and this is another advantage for Amazon Prime members.
"Amazon has always been about providing convenience, value, and selection to customers. Part of that is making it easier for customers to access wireless plans that are compatible with a variety of devices and can be set up from home," Amazon’s vice president of consumer electronics, Steve Downer, said in a press release. "The Boost Infinite Unlimited SIM kit gives Prime members an exclusive deal to access affordable postpaid wireless service on one of the top networks in the U.S. at a great value."
