The “Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition” is going to be the expanded version of the Capcom’s 2019 action-adventure game developed to maximize the gaming power afforded by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It also comes with one more Vergil-related surprise that players who will remain using PS4 and Xbox One can also enjoy.
‘Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition’ gameplay: What to expect
Vergil, the son of demon Sparda, has been one of the most important characters throughout the series. In “Devil May Cry 5,” he has played the role of the main antagonist against his son Nero. While Vergil has been a playable character in the latest installments of the series, this option was not immediately available in the fifth title and has been reserved for the games’ special editions.
The good news is players who have a copy of the base “Devil May Cry 5” can still experience playing the game as Vergil on current-generation consoles through a paid DLC. This was confirmed by Capcom during its Tokyo Game Show presentation of the “Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition” over the weekend. There is more information left unknown about the new version of Vergil, but Capcom has released a 10-second teaser of the villain’s movements as a playable character.
However, players who will have an access to “Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition” -- intended for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S -- will still have an advantage over those who will remain with current-generation consoles. Playable Vergil will be available as soon as the special edition of the game is launched. On the other hand, Capcom has yet to announce when the Vergil DLC will be released on PS4 and Xbox One.
‘Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition’ release date
Aside from Vergil’s upgraded version, “Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition” will also make use of PS5 and Xbox Series X’s more advanced technologies, especially their raytracing support. The game will feature more vivid and realistic visuals along with better frame rates and faster load times.
“Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition” will be released on the same day the next-generation consoles arrive in stores. The Xbox Series X/S will launch first on Nov. 10 followed by PS5 on Nov. 12.
