As fans wait for the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” season 2, the producers of the worldwide hit anime announced the return of its stage play version. After releasing the movie “Mugen Train” movie in October, the presentation on the stage is up next.
As Oricon reported, the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” play was confirmed during the Jump Festa 2021 online event that was held last weekend. The show will open in the summer of 2021.

It was said that the play will be directed by Kenichi Suemitsu, who will also serve its writer. This will be the second time that the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” play is coming to the stage as it already premiered for the first time in January at the will AiiA 2.5 Theater Kobe in Hyogo prefecture.
The show premiered on Jan. 18 until the 26th, then the second batch of shows ran from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. The TV adaptation of the manga debuted in April 2019 and was produced and released by Aniplex. The anime was streamed via Crunchyroll, FunimationNow, and Hulu.
The stage play of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” will still feature the same cast members from the first series of the show, and as per the anime’s fandom page, this includes Ryota Kobayashi (Tanjiro Kamado), Akari Takaishi (Nezuko Kamado), Keisuke Ueda (Zenitsu Agatsuma), Yūgo Satō (Inosuke Hashibira), Reo Honda (Giyū Tomioka), Hisanori Satō (Yushiro) and Yoshihide Sasaki (Muzan Kibutsuji).
The “Mugen Train” movie smash hit record
In any case, the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train” premiered in October in Japan and will be released in North America early next year. The film was the continuation of the first season of the anime that was based on the manga of the same title.
The movie was a total box office hit that reportedly recorded a profit of 390 million yen or around $3.77 million in just a few months following its release, as per Crunchyroll. This was such a big feat considering the pandemic situation today. “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda also praised the series and acknowledged its greatness.
“At Jump, Demon Slayer was really amazing,” Anime News Network quoted Oda as saying in a translated message. I enjoyed how it was able to save the feelings of so many people. It’s absolutely superb work and this is how I want manga to be. It touched me!”
