Demi Lovato has been confirmed to be hospitalized in Los Angeles. The reason for the emergency is that the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer has overdosed on heroin, breaking her six years of being sober. She had revealed in June that she relapsed.
The Los Angeles Police Department first responded to the scene after receiving a distress call from the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in the Hollywood Hills, where Demi Lovato lives. Law enforcement found the Disney alum unconscious and immediately treated her with Narcan, BBC reports.
Narcan is a medication used to reverse the effect of an opioid overdose at an accelerated pace. After administering her with the remedy, officers brought Demi Lovato to a local hospital, where she received proper treatment.
Reports have confirmed that Demi Lovato is now in stable condition, alert and breathing at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The songstress has struggled with a host of problems for years and has expressed her hardships through her music.
Addiction, bulimia, and bipolar disorder are the challenges that Demi Lovato has had to deal with, and she has written about all of them in her years of being in the music industry. Fans of the “Stone Cold” singer said that her songs have helped them get through their own hardships, forming a special bond with the singer through her words.
Following the news, Hits 93, a Toronto radio station, announced it was allocating an hour-long commercial-free segment dedicated to Demi Lovato and her music. "We believe music heals; together, we can get through this, so we hope you join us and celebrate Lovato’s music and legacy, while we hope for a speedy recovery,” the station tweeted.
In her song “Sober,” Demi Lovato sings, “Wake me when the shakes are gone / And the cold sweats disappear / Call me when it's over / And myself has reappeared." The all-too-real lyrics speak volume of the seemingly insurmountable odds that Lovato has had to deal with as she battles the demons plaguing her.
