Demi Lovato 2018: Return From Rehab Marked by Singer’s Social Media Comeback After Alleged Drug Overdose

Demi Lovato surprised her over 70.5 million Instagram followers on Tuesday as she made her social media comeback. Reports have it that it also marked her return home from rehab.

She joined a long list of Hollywood stars who have been encouraging fans to take part in the United States midterm elections. As for Lovato’s part, she shared a photo of her in a polling location and wrote, “I am so grateful to be home in time to vote! One vote can make a difference, so make sure your voice is heard!”

On Saturday, TMZ published photos of Lovato while dining with her friend and clothing designer Henry Levy at a restaurant in Beverly Hills. Then, PEOPLE reported on Sunday that she has just returned in her Los Angeles home after her time in rehab. A source of the publication said, “She just got back to L.A. a couple days ago. She seems to be doing well so far.”

Fans of Demi Lovato were met with the unfortunate news on July 24 that the “Camp Rock” alum was brought to a hospital in Los Angeles following an alleged drug overdose. Later on the same day, Lovato’s rep told TMZ that she has regained consciousness while her family requested for privacy.

Meanwhile, Lovato’s Instagram post on Tuesday was actually not her first update since the incident in July. She made a brief return on the same social media platform in early August and posted an open letter to her fans where she talked about her struggle with addiction.

“What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. … I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery,” Lovato wrote in a now-deleted post.

Demi Lovato’s mom, Dianna De La Garza, said on September that her daughter was doing better and “working on her sobriety.” Then, late last month, La Garza confirmed that the “Tell Me You Love Me” singer has been sober for 90 days.
