It’s confirmed, “War” will be brought to the next generation of consoles. Unfortunately, it won’t be as an entirely new addition, but rather, a re-master of the first. The new version is called “Darksiders: Wramastered Edition” and it is apparently an attempt by “Nordic Games” to reinvigorate the franchise in order to set the market for a possible third installment.
The re-mastered version will feature improved graphical capabilities, including a 1080p resolution, improved rendering, sharper shadows, and better post-processing, according to Digital Trends. The site also noted how a “Nordic Games” representative mentioned in 2015 that re-masters were the company’s way of testing the waters for a possible third game.
In terms of textures, it seems the developers really put in some effort by practically doubling the amount that the new edition will get. This allows it to be played on the Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, and PC without making gamers feel like they got cheated.
In terms of framerate, only the Wii U will feature 30fps, which is only because of its graphical limitations. Owners of the other platforms mentioned above will enjoy 60fps, which has become practically a requirement for modern gaming.
More than the news of the re-master, however, Tech Times noted how “Nordic Games” really likes their puns. The improved version of “Darksiders 2” was called the “Deathinitive Edition,” playing on the name of the title character of that installment. As such, giving the first game’s re-master the title “Warmastered Edition” is hardly a surprising development.
In any case, based on how well-received the company’s first attempt at a re-master of a “Darksiders” game was, it’s expected that their next offering will be similarly praised. After all, “Darksiders 1” was well received when it released, and a lot of fans are still waiting for a new installment even after THQ went bankrupt.
There’s no set date as to when the remaster will be released, but “Nordic Games” did confirm that it will cost $20 when it becomes available. PC-owners will also be able to play the game at 4K resolutions.
