Shortly after the release of Darksiders 2, THQ made the announcement that broke the hearts of fans; there would be no more future games in the series. Fast-forward several years later and it would seem that the company has had a change of heart. Cue the epic trailer featuring Fury, the mage sister of War, Death, and Strife, and one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
As a franchise that was left in the cold for a long time, the game’s design clearly didn’t age well based on the trailer that was just released. The environment and characters are forgivable, but viewers are already noting Fury’s rather unfortunate appearance. Even so, it’s worth noting that this is a reveal trailer and typically, games get better as they move towards its release date.
THQ Nordic also released a few details about Fury on its official website, describing the new character that players will control and the plot of the game. Whereas War and Death fought Demons, Angels, and Nephilim in their respective titles, this time the Seven Deadly Sins will take center stage.
“The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, Fury is a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil,” the site’s description of the character reads. “Unleash her various forms to access new weapons, moves and traversal abilities.”
As for the release date, while the company hasn’t provided any details on that front, leaked Amazon product descriptions placed the launch on December 31, 2018, TechSpot reports. The publication also noted the unusual nature of the game’s pre-order system since players can make reservations right now. This is highly irregular as pre-orders are often offered weeks before a game’s launch, not years.
Fans of the previous game might need to prepare themselves for a change of pace when taking control of Fury. While War was a complete brawler and Death was a more technical protagonist, it seems their sister will rely a lot on strategy and planning.
