Lifepaths have been one of the anticipated features of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming RPG. Luckily, the second episode of Night City Wire released on Monday revealed more information on how choosing among the Nomad, Street Kid, and Corpo Lifepath will affect the players throughout the game.
What are ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Lifepaths?
Character creation is one of the key elements in the RPG, and at its core is the Lifepath. It is a system that designates V’s, the main protagonist, backstory and other personal history information. In “Cyberpunk 2077,” players will be able to choose among three Lifepaths namely Nomad, Street Kid, and Corpo. It will determine where a player’s story will begin while also influencing the dialogues and choices available to them as they explore the Night City.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’: What should players choose Nomad, Street Kid, and Corpo Lifepaths
Choosing the Nomad Lifepath means V hails from the dangerous deserts of the Badlands and players will start “Cyberpunk 2077” as a newcomer to the Night City. The latest episode hints that the version of V that grew up in the Badlands has a strong sense of camaraderie because they belong to a family before leaving the desert. So it is one thing V will miss once they start their journey into the Night City.
Street-kid V, on the other hand, grew up in Heywood and is then more familiar with the streets of Night City. V even describes the streets as his “family” and this familiarity will come in handy in the “Cyberpunk 2077” missions.
The Corpo Lifepath his also an interesting Lifepath because it places V inside the Arasaka board room, quite a different sight compared to the V that has been shown in earlier trailers. While corpo V is not familiar with the hustle and language of the streets, having spent more time in the corporate world means V will be more capable of navigating through tricky transactions in “Cyberpunk 2077.”
CD Projekt Red explained that missions are generally the same whichever Lifepath a player chooses. However, there will be a difference in how they could tackle these missions or what dialogues will be available to the character. The good news is players can go for a second and third playthrough to experience all Lifepaths. “Cyberpunk 2077” will be released on Nov. 19 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The RPG will also arrive in Stadia at a later date and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (through free upgrades) once the consoles are launched.
