Dutch company PAL-V beat out the competition by offering the very first flying car to hit the market. Customers can now order their very own gyrocopter that can transform from an equally impressive land vehicle. Prices start at $400,000, so anyone with extra cash to burn can go ahead and get one for themselves.
It’s been clear for some time now that the world is entering a technological revolution, with artificial intelligence, advanced genetic engineering, and the changing transportation landscape being just some of the biggest events to occur over the last five years. Now, another transformative technology has hit the streets and the skies, with PAL-V offering its Liberty flying car to interested customers, Digital Trends reports.
The company is quite worked up about its achievements as well, with PAL-V CEO Robert Dingemanse outlining what this milestone means for them through a press statement.
“After years of hard work, beating the technical and qualification challenges, our team succeeded in creating an innovative flying car that complies with existing safety standards, determined by regulatory bodies around the world,” Dingemanse said.
More than simply enabling customers to have the option to drive on the ground and then take off to fly through the air, the technical specs of the vehicle itself are nothing to sneeze at. For starters, in car form, the Liberty is capable of reaching speeds of up to 100mph. It can also accelerate from 0-60mph in 9 seconds and has a range of 817 miles with a full tank.
According to the company, it takes about 10 minutes for the Liberty to transform into a flying car. Once it is airborne, it can reach speeds of 112mph and has a range of 310 miles, TechCrunch reports. That might not seem like much, but it’s enough to hop from one city to another in short order.
