Crypto wallet Edge adds support for Ripple and Monero

Edge has announced that it has become the first multi-asset wallet provider to add support for Monero (XMR) and Ripple (XRP).

Previously “Airbitz,” Edge noted that while the communities of Ripple and Monero are growing, there is little to no support for user-controlled storing, sending or receiving of these currencies on popular exchanges or wallets. By allowing the currencies to be stored and exchanged on a mobile phone, it is driving their mainstream adoption.

Ripple is currently the third most valuable cryptocurrency by market cap, while Monero is at the 14th position. The use cases of both are very different: Monero features RingCT for anonymous transactions while Ripple serves as a more efficient monetary vehicle, popular for liquidity, speed, and low transaction barriers.

“We’ve listened closely to our community over the last few months and found a strong demand for these currencies on the Edge platform. Both communities are different but they face the same issue: how do we hold and use our currency? Edge is proud to announce that they can now find that option here,” stated Paul Puey, CEO and co-founder of Edge.

In its official release, Edge said that it aims to be the first of many that will add support for the currencies and make using and securing them easier than ever. With built in support for Shapeshift, users also get a streamlined experience to exchange these cryptocurrencies for other assets such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Augur (REP), and various other ERC20 tokens.

"It’s always a pleasure for ShapeShift to partner with a team that is willing to take on a daunting task like Monero support. Paul and the Edge team are building boldly and creatively; forging ahead, and seeing the fruits of their endeavors." stated Shapeshift CEO, Erik Voorhees.

Edge’s full 1.2.0 release includes support to hold, send, and receive Monero (XMR), Ripple (XRP), and Quantum (QTUM). It also supports buying and selling Bitcoin using credit card worldwide via Simplex integration, as well as the ability to sweep private keys for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and Dash. It also includes support for exporting transaction history to CSV and Quickbooks (QBO) files and the ability to restore deleted wallets.
