Connecture, Inc. Drives Record Member Enrollment for Memorial Hermann Health Solutions

BROOKFIELD, Wis., April 19, 2016 -- Connecture, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNXR), a provider of web-based information systems used to create health insurance marketplaces, announced use of its consumer-centric exchange platform enabled Memorial Hermann Health Solutions to exceed its member recruitment goal for individuals and families. Since launching its exchange product through Connecture’s online distribution platform in October, the health plan has enrolled more than 6,000 members in its individual exchange.

“As the new CEO for Memorial Hermann Health Solutions, I was pleased to see the tremendous enrollment success since our exchange launched last fall,” said Daniel Styf, CEO of Memorial Hermann Health Solutions. “These numbers are a testament to our collective team’s ability to deliver the plan shopping experience our members are looking for, and the insights gained from last year’s enrollment will guide our future product offerings for 2017.”

Following the successful creation of small and large group plan options for employers and brokers, as well as launching other value-based initiatives, Memorial Hermann Health Solutions, a subsidiary of the largest not-for-profit health system in southeast Texas, recognized an opportunity to leverage the health system’s brand and loyal patient population to build and launch a direct-to-consumer health plan. The plan, named Memorial Hermann Health Solutions, initially approached Connecture to bolster its offerings in the individual exchange market by developing a customized retail shopping experience for consumers. In four months, the two organizations collaborated and launched a fully branded health insurance distribution platform.

The health plan quickly surpassed the enrollment benchmark by enrolling more than 8,000 individual members just a few months after launch. Leveraging Connecture’s customized platform, the health plan is now able to analyze consumer shopping trends and apply those insights to continually enhance the user experience.

“When we decided to launch our HMO and PPO plans for individuals and families, we recognized the need for a collaborative partner to build an interactive platform to support and empower consumers through the shopping experience,” said Neil Kennish, Associate Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Memorial Hermann Health Solutions. “Connecture was the natural choice for our organization, given their robust consumer and technology expertise, as well as their ability to be a strategic partner. Their team became an extension of ours and we’re already planning our work together to enhance our product offering for open enrollment in November.”

Since its inception in 1999, Connecture has provided traditional health plans, brokers, government programs, and provider-sponsored health plans with the consumer expertise and foundational technology necessary to operate highly effective insurance exchanges and online marketplaces. Today, Connecture’s personalized, consumer-focused platforms help guide more than 20 million consumers annually through the purchasing process, recommending the best insurance plan based on the user’s preferences, health status, preferred providers, medications, and expected out-of-pocket costs.

“Memorial Hermann Health Solutions is a true innovator in healthcare and the launch of its health plan is a testament to the organization’s continued commitment to meet the needs of and support the communities it serves,” said Jeff Surges, CEO of Connecture. “As the retailization of our industry continues, it will drive more non-traditional market entrants like Memorial Hermann Health Solutions that must embrace innovative solutions that support and enable direct-to-consumer purchasing. We’re thrilled we could help successfully enhance this plan and look forward to our continued partnership with Memorial Hermann Health Plan.”
