JOHNSTOWN, Pa., May 27, 2016 -- Vicki A. Barbur, PhD, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at Concurrent Technologies Corporation, will speak about the value-based use of augmented reality at the Augmented World Expo™ (AWE) on June 1 at 10:15 am in the AREA (Augmented Reality Enterprise Alliance) Track at the Santa Clara Convention Center, CA. AWE is the world's largest conference and vendor exhibition for professionals focused on making the world more interactive—featuring technologies such as augmented reality, virtual reality, wearable computing, smart glasses, gesture and sensor devices.
Barbur will draw on four specific real-world applications to demonstrate how Concurrent Technologies Corporation's approach to augmented reality is providing clients with improved productivity, simplified workflows and processes, more useful and engaging experiences with the physical world, and real-time access to rich heterogeneous data sets.
"Our company is investing R&D funds to build on our immersive multi-intelligence analysis and visualization capabilities to develop blended reality solutions that enhance human performance," said Barbur. "Technologies are more capable than ever of providing user context, but how can they play well together to best serve industrial, learning and application-driven spaces? There are endless possibilities to provide unique solutions, and I look forward to sharing examples of real-world projects involving object recognition and heterogeneous data, storytelling, mixed reality intelligent collaboration and mission training."
Dr. Vicki A. Barbur earned a PhD in physics from Imperial College, University of London, a master of science degree in applied statistics from the University of Oxford, and a bachelor of science degree in physics from Imperial College, University of London.
