The second official trailer of “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” was released over the weekend but, unfortunately, there were still no signs of Lelouch’s return. On the plus side, the latest promo video confirmed the inclusion of more new characters in the sequel film.

Since the end of the R2 series, Lelouch has been presumed dead after he was attacked by Suzaku posing as Zero during the so-called Zero Requiem. The main protagonist had planned to direct the world’s hatred towards himself so people may find peace in his sacrificial death. Interestingly, a lot of fans are still hopeful that Lelouch will somehow live and will join the actions in “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection.”

However, after two official trailers and various promo images revealed for “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection,” there is still no clue whether or not Lelouch will return. But the latest trailer has interestingly introduced the likelihood of the Geass being activated following the “birth of a new legend.” This can be pertaining to a completely new character or it could be Lelouch’s new identity after possibly being resurrected.

There is one thing is made apparent by the teasers, chaos is back just two years since the Zero Requiem was fulfilled. Lelouch’s remaining allies — Nunnally (Kaori Nazuka) and Zero — are facing a new enemy in “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection.”

While Lelouch is still officially a no-show, the latest “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” trailer revealed several new characters joining the sequel. They are Shamuna (Keiko Toda), Fogunaa (Akio Ohtsuka), Kujapatto (Kenjiro Tsuda), Shario (Ayumu Murase), Shesutaaru (Nobunaga Shimazaki), and Bituru (Wataru Takagi).

“Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” will first premiere in Japan on Feb. 9, 2019. Meanwhile, Funimation is expected to release an English-subbed version of the movie for viewers in North America sometime in the same year.
