English actor Charlie Hunnam is in the works to start shooting for “Denali", the latest film offering of the Spyglass Media Group. The English actor will be portraying the role of adventure photographer Ben Moon who had a special 15-year bond with his mix-breed rescue dog named Denali.

The film will be an adaptation of Moon's memoir entitled "Denali: A Man, A Dog, A Friendship Of A Lifetime” which was published early this year.

The film Denali will tell the story of how Moon adopted a shelter puppy named Denali when he moved to Oregon. They had an instant connection and had several adventures together setting out into the American West. But then Moon was diagnosed with colorectal cancer when he was 29 years old. All throughout that ordeal, Denali had stayed by Moon’s side and when Denali later got sick with the same disease, Moon repaid Denali’s loyalty by also never leaving the dog’s side.

Moon's memoir may have been published by the Penguin Random House only early in January this year, but Denali’s story had already started catching attention back in 2015 when Moon made a short film about his dog. That short film which was Moon’s “love letter” to his loyal dog Denali was actually what led to the publication of Moon’s memoir.

The 40-year-old Hunnam will be working with a number of familiar faces in this project as the film will be written and directed by Max Winkler, who also directed Hunnam in the boxing drama picture "Jungleland."

Aside from Winkler, Hunnam will also be producing the film with Bonafide Production’s Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, who also worked with him in "Cold Mountain” wherein he had his breakout role back in 2008 alongside stars Jude Law and Nicole Kidman, among others.

Hunnam’s most recent work was in the “True History of the Kelly Gang” and “The Gentlemen” wherein he reunited with director Guy Ritchie with whom he worked with in “King Arthur." Other credits for Hunnam were “Sons of Anarchy” and "The Lost City of Z”. He will also be starring next in Apple’s upcoming series “Shantaram."
