In a little over a week, the full version of “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” is getting released. Thanks to the several weeks of open beta, there is enough information that fans can gather on the gameplay features to expect from the upcoming game.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ gameplay: What to expect

Like the preview “Call of Duty” titles, gamers can expect a mix of the story campaign, multiplayer game modes, and zombie-infested gameplay from “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.” As the official title and trailers have shown already, the main campaign and its plot is set during the Cold War that was mainly fought by the forces of the United States and Soviet Russia. Central to the plot is Ronald Reagan, who appears in the cutscenes as personally handing CIA agent Russell Adler the mission of taking down his Soviet counterpart identified only as Perseus.

The multiplayer aspect of “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” comes with Adler having to assemble his own team for the mission. This brings in other main characters, namely Alex Mason, Frank Woods, Jason Hudson, and the main protagonist, who only goes by the codename “Bell.” Some of the known locations featured in the campaign include the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, East Berlin, the Trabzon Airport in Turkey, and the KGB office in Moscow.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” open beta has given fans a good grasp of the multiplayer game modes arriving next month. There will be three new modes: 40-player Fireteam, VIP Escort (6v6), and Combined Arms (12v12). Staple multiplayer modes -- Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint -- are also set to return.

Of course, “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” will not be complete without a Zombies mode. However, PlayStation players are confirmed to get more of this gameplay feature as the Zombies Onslaught game mode will be locked for the platform until November 2021.

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’ release dates

“Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” will be released on five platforms, including PC through Battle.net, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $60. Standard editions for the next-generation consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will cost more at $70.

The game will go live on Nov. 13 on all these platforms. However, day one access for “Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War” on PS5 is limited to players in the U.S. and Canada, while those in other regions will have to wait until Nov. 19.
