Treyarch will be coming out soon with “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4,” the latest entry to Activision's long-running war-themed shooter, and the team behind it may have found a way to keep the almost yearly releasing series fresh for fans.

Those who have played the game's predecessors may be used to the game always coming in pairs of a single-player campaign experience along with a competitive multiplayer mode. “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” has shown a bold face by announcing the removal of the single player campaign. For those fans shouting heresy from the back of the room, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's” single-player campaign participation numbers may be particularly telling as to why Treyarch has chosen to drop the campaign at least for this installment.

Zombies mode, a classic game mode that originated from the first Treyarch installment, “Call of Duty: World at War,” is making a comeback in “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” due to its consistent popularity with gamers. The mode's teaser trailer hints at a non-modern setting, with the environments featured in the trailer ranging from Alcatraz to fights in Roman colliseums.

But the classic multiplayer game modes and zombie mode aren't all that are left in store for any “Black Ops 4” player. The new “Call of Duty” will also be introducing a new battle royale mode dubbed "Blackout Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.” The battle royale mode hasn't had many details released aside from the confirmation that it will involve the use of land, sea, and air vehicles and Treyarch co-studio head Dan Bunting's assurance that it is battle royale with a Treyarch twist.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" will be available on the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game is now available for pre-order on its website. The base game, physical or digital, will be retailing at $59.99 while additional pre-order packages from the Digital Deluxe Edition all the way to the Mystery Box Edition will be selling from $99.99 to $199.99.

Gamers who pre-order any of the announced packages will also have access to the game's private beta, which will run in August on different dates per platform. The game's battle royale mode called "Blackout" will have its private beta much later in September.
