ALBANY, NY, Aug. 24, 2017 -- CDPHP is proud to partner with Roswell Park Cancer Institute to offer members access to CDPHP Smoke-Free, an evidence-based tobacco-cessation program at no out of pocket cost.

CDPHP Smoke-Free offers members access to eight telephonic counseling sessions per year with a specialized quit coach, plus up to 16 weeks of nicotine replacement therapy, such as nicotine patches, lozenges, or gum.
“Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. The risk of developing lung cancer – as well as a number of other deadly diseases – is highest among smokers,” said Elizabeth Martin, MS, CHES, director of population health & wellness at CDPHP. “At CDPHP, it is our mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. This partnership is a prime example of that commitment and one we believe will help our members live longer, healthier lives,” added Martin.
A combination of medication and one-on-one counseling is proven to increase participants’ chances of successfully quitting. With support, participants are more likely to overcome obstacles and cravings.
Participants can conveniently reach a specialized quit coach Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The CDPHP Smoke-Free program is a wellness benefit as opposed to a medical benefit, which means members pay nothing out of pocket.
CDPHP Smoke-Free is currently available to commercial and Medicaid members. Medicare members can join starting January 1, 2018. For more information, visit www.cdphp.com/quitsmoking.
