RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 15, 2017 -- Camp Corral, a leading nonprofit advocate for military families, announced today that its board of directors has named Leigh Longino as chief executive officer. Longino has served as the organization’s chief operating officer since 2015.
As CEO, Longino will lead the organization’s fundraising and development efforts, and will work with host camps and partner organizations to strengthen the nonprofit as a resource for military families. Camp Corral has provided more than 17,000 children of wounded, injured ill or fallen service men and women with a free week of summer camp since its inception in 2011.
“Leigh has been an amazing asset to Camp Corral, and her leadership has helped us grow and strengthen the organization,” said Easter Maynard, chair of the Camp Corral board. “I look forward to working with Leigh in her new role as CEO as we continue to build a national platform to assist and advocate for military families.”
Longino brings nearly 25 years of experience to the Camp Corral CEO role. Prior to joining the Camp Corral team, first as a board member in 2014 and then in the COO role, she spent 20 years in camp programming and operations for various organizations. She held positions as the senior director of risk management and director of the Go Global programs for the YMCA of the Triangle. She also served as the program director for YMCA Camp Seafarer where she oversaw year-round programming.

It’s truly amazing to see the positive impact we have on military children who can face difficult situations at home,” said Longino. “I’m excited to continue working with my talented team as CEO to provide both a safe and enjoyable summer camp experience for our nation’s young heroes.”

Camp Corral, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation, is a free, one-of-a-kind summer camp for children of wounded, disabled or fallen military service members. Since its founding in 2011 by Golden Corral, Camp Corral has grown to 23 camps in 19 states and has served more than 6,500 children. Although any child ages 8 to 15 from a military family is eligible, registration priority is given to children of wounded, disabled or fallen military service members.
