With the Xbox One update, the highly-requested button remapping capability for Standard Xbox One controllers has been added through the Xbox Accessories App. The feature will enable individual users on the console to have their own custom button mapping, Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb explained.
Standard Controller now allows swapping button pairs, but all buttons are always mapped on a standard controller. Users can also do multiple button swaps in sequence to move the button commands where they want them to be. Besides, remapping on a standard controller is not transferrable to other consoles and is available for Xbox One consoles only at the moment.
Users who wish for ultimate degree of personalisation, they can get complete control with the Xbox Elite wireless controller, in which the only required buttons that need to be mapped on the controller are A and B. Users can also have multiple buttons mapped to the same function. As remapped settings are directly stored on the Elite controller, users can bring their custom settings to another console or PC as well.
The update also makes the system faster, facilitates easier navigation of its dashboard and adds backward compatibility for over a hundred Xbox 360 games, The Verge noted.
