Burger King Thailand's audacious new creation, dubbed the "real cheeseburger," featuring a meatless patty and a staggering 20 slices of American cheese, has taken Thai social media by storm. As videos and reactions proliferate on TikTok, customers are enticed yet divided over the cheese-loaded delight, signaling the impact of this quirky approach to culinary innovation in fast food.
One customer, enthralled by the cheese-induced delight, shared her experience with CNN. Im Jeepetch, a 25-year-old IT engineer and self-proclaimed cheese lover, admitted that while she enjoyed the taste, she found the amount of cheese overwhelming. She was confused that she could only finish half of it. She noted that the combination of ingredients is crucial for a delectable experience.
Im, who plans to return to her usual double cheese Angus, conceded that she might not order this excessively cheesy indulgence again. Another customer, Alisa Chuengviroj, a 26-year-old entrepreneur, agreed. She said the cheeseburger was too intense for her liking and prefers "a few slices of cheese in my burger."
This unconventional addition to the menu illustrates how fast food chains worldwide aim to captivate their audience by introducing eccentric and attention-grabbing offerings, hoping to gain traction on social media platforms. In the United States, Burger King has succeeded with its flagship flame-grilled Whopper, which experienced a surge in popularity thanks to a catchy commercial jingle on TikTok.
Moreover, fast-food establishments continually adapt their menus to cater to local preferences and tastes. In Thailand, cheese is highly sought after by young customers, and it is common to find it sprinkled on various dishes. Burger King's Thai menu also includes salmon katsu burgers, appealing to health-conscious individuals seeking beef alternatives.
Minor International, one of Asia's largest restaurant owners and a prominent local hospitality group operates Burger King in Thailand. As fast food franchises continue to innovate, these delectable creations and quirky offerings keep customers buzzing and intrigued.
