AliasSmith AB-owned Buen Vato will launch the world’s first tequila in a cardboard bottle, made from 94 percent recycled material, in Sweden this July.
The cardboard bottle is said to be lighter to transport, reducing CO2 emissions in a significant way compared to traditional industry methods.
According to AliasSmith’s CEO, Claes Puebla Smith, they launched Buen Vato because the drinks industry needs a shake-up, and sustainability needs to be placed at the heart of this transformation.
Smith added that the cardboard bottle is just the start as Buen Vato will constantly redesign the production, packaging, and business model to reach perfect sustainability.
There are plans to distribute the product in the UK, Italy, France, and Spain later in the year.
