Brian Sheth, co-founder of the Sheth Sangreal Foundation, recently announced that his family would match donations of up to $500,000 in Statesman Season for Caring. The Austin-American Statesman is dedicated to helping individuals and family in the area, and Sheth is proud to support their efforts and the larger community.
A Generous Escalation
Brian and his wife Adria issued a statement about their excitement about partnering in this program again. From 2016 – 2018, the family matched at $100,000. In 2020, they escalated it to $250,000. They decided that their neighbors deserved even more this year.
“2021 has seen a number of challenges to our Austin community. Watching our community support one another throughout the year, matching each challenge with renewed support for our neighbors, has been the most uplifting inspiration for our family.”
They went on to credit the Statesman for the opportunity to protect their most vulnerable neighbors. This donation brings the Sheth family up to $1.05 million in matching grants since their initial participation in 2016.
There are 11 local nonprofits that Season for Caring will support this year, including Austin Palliative Care, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, Dress for Success Austin, Family Eldercare, Foundation Communities, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, Meals on Wheels Central Texas, and Wonders & Worries.
Featured Families
Season for Caring features one special family from each organization it sponsors, and the program invites the public to donate money or an item from their wish list. These families typically suffer from both medical and financial hardships, and the extra care and support can go a long way toward helping them get back on their feet.
While the featured families are given top priority though, the money will also go to hundreds of clients in the form of an emergency fund. Donations from people like Brian Sheth have been the difference between people keeping their homes, paying for electrical bills and life-saving medications, and getting the transportation they desperately need. Since Season for Caring began in 1999, it’s managed to give local nonprofits $15.2 million.
Brian Sheth and Family at Work
The Sheth Sangreal Foundation has donated to numerous causes since its inception, both local and national. The family was particularly active during COVID-19 and when Texas shut down in February due to massive winter storms.
They famously matched $1 million to a fund created by United Way of Greater Austin and the Austin Community Foundation. Dubbed All Together ATX, Brian Sheth supported numerous organizations with direct relief during the pandemic. The foundation also donated $750,000 to the Austin Area Urban League to provide basic necessities, including water, meals, and housing, during the February freeze in 2021.
Brian Sheth is also active with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Austin area and the Central Texas Food Bank. The Sheth Sangreal Foundation provided a $200,000 matching grant for the two organizations along with the Jefferies Group. It also gave a $500,000 matching grant for the Club on the Go kits for the Boys and Girls Clubs, and a $250,000 matching grant to the Dell Children’s Foundation.
Brian Sheth takes his responsibility to the community very seriously. “We’re committed to the long-term support of our neighbors, many of whom aren’t supported by traditional means.” He knows that these funds are put to good use, helping to repair neighborhoods and families that suffer from debilitating food and housing insecurities.
In addition to helping the people in their beloved city, the Sheth family supports climate change prevention organizations and wildlife preservation projects. The family donated more than $60 million to support initiatives in more than 80 countries. Brian Sheth was also a producer of the Global Citizen Live 24-hour broadcast, an event that raised more than $1 billion to support the fight against global warming and poverty. The initiative also pledged to plant 57 million trees and give out 60 million vaccines all over the world.
