Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are now singles as their divorce has been finalized last week. The ex-couple’s divorce case has been ongoing for two years already and finally, the court approved their legal separation and they are now declared as officially single.
According to Entertainment Tonight, a judge handling Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce handed down the decision on Friday, April 12. The resolution came after the two requested a bifurcated judgment so they can be allowed to use state that they are single while their divorce is still finishing up settlements in some areas.
It was in 2016 when Angelina Jolie filed for divorce and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason. Her child custody battle with Brad Pitt followed and it is understood that this has not been settled yet. With the judge’s agreement for them to be legally single, it was said that the “Maleficent” actress felt so relieved.
“Jolie was pleased to be entering the next stage and relieved at the progress for the health of their family,” Jolie’s lawyer told ET.
At any rate, The Blast reported that although Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been declared as singles, the pair has yet to finalize their custody agreement and divorce settlement for permanent resolutions.
"A custody arrangement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge," Samantha Bley DeJean, Angelina’s lawyer said. "The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial. The filing and details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children and they are Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and the twins Vivienne and Knox, 10. The world knows that the three older kids were adopted from Ethiopia, Vietnam, and Cambodia while the younger ones are the couple’s biological children
Finally, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce settlement will still continue for several months as they still need to negotiate the separation of their properties. Moreover, they have to come up with permanent and amicable child custody settlement for their cases to finally end.
