After the defeat of Momoshiki Otsutsuki, “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66 will explore the younger Uzumaki’s personal struggles. It appears that his new Karma Seal makes him even more doubtful of the possibility of him becoming a Hokage.
In “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66, Boruto will insist that he can choose his own path and do something in the future that is different from the pursuits of his father and grandfather. The preview also shows Boruto removing the bandage from his hand where the Karma Seal is. This could be implying that Momoshiki’s parting words may have also influenced what Boruto is currently thinking.
It can be recalled that Momoshiki’s ghost said some mysterious parting words to Boruto right after he was defeated. Momoshiki told Boruto that he “strongly inherited the power of the Otsutsuki.”
“Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66 is fittingly titled “My Story” because the upcoming installment seems to tackle what future Boruto wants for himself. He will still struggle in processing his new power seal and Momoshiki's warning. “And, know this, those who defeat gods cannot remain ordinary individuals," Momoshiki told Boruto. "Reflect upon your fate as you proceed in life, human child,” the defeated Otsutsuki said.
Before the events of “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66, the main protagonist played a huge part in defeating Momoshiki. He successfully used his Rasengan with a lightning attack — something that even Kakashi was not able to do. Boruto’s attack along with Naruto’s remaining chakra was what finished Momoshiki’s havoc.
After seeing what he can do and possibly somehow believing that his future holds a lot more than what he has in mind (just like what Momoshiki said), Boruto’s plans for the future might have become blurry for him. “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66 might show in several instances that Boruto is even drifting further away from wanting to become a Hokage.
Meanwhile, everything else is also expected to go back to normal in Konohagakure in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66. Despite helping in defeating Momoshiki, Boruto still has to face the consequences of breaking a lot of rules in the Chunin exams.
The young ninja is also expected to formally apologize to everybody for all that he has done wrong in the course of the exams. And now that the Momoshiki arc is over, there is a possibility that a new plot revolving around Boruto’s Karma Seal will unfold in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66, airing on July 26.
