‘Bones’ season 12’s episode 12, titled “The Final Chapter: The End In the End,” will feature the aftermath of the bomb explosion from last episode’s cliffhanger ending. Booth and Brennan are revealed to have survived and will race to hunt down Kovac with their team.
The series says goodbye to Brennan and Booth in the final episode of the long-running crime procedural drama television series, but it will not be without some action especially when the finale’s main villain is Mark Kovac.
Kovac was first introduced in season 12’s episode, titled “The Price for the Past.” He hunted down Booth in revenge for the death of his father Ravik, a Serbian warlord killed in Bosnia in the year 1995.
The synopsis for “The Final Chapter: The End In the End” posted on TV Guide reads, “In the series finale, Kovac (Adrian Bellani) is still on the loose as the team look for evidence to track him down, but they'll have to do it without Brennan (Emily Deschanel) after she experiences a setback, and their task isn't made any easier when it appears he's got outside help and a hideout.”
David Boreanaz, who plays lead protagonist FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, is set to direct the episode from a story by Stephen Nathan and teleplay by Jonathan Collier, Michael Peterson, and Karine Rosenthal. It seems that Boreanaz’ character Booth will be left to deal with Kovac on his own when Brennan experiences a setback and may need to sit out the manhunt.
The team will need to figure out a way to find Kovac without Brennan by applying everything she has ever taught them. It will be interesting to see Brennan’s lessons applied in the field of duty. Things will prove to be challenging for the team when they discover that Kovac may be getting some outside help as well as a hideout.
The promo shows the aftermath of the bomb explosion at the Jeffersonian laboratory. It is revealed that Booth is alive and well but Brennan is seen lying prone and unconscious on the floor among the piles of rubble. He tells her as he cradles her in his arms, “Stay with me. I love you.”
During an interview with TV Line, co-showrunner Michael Peterson revealed that the finale episode will pick up right where episode 11 left off. "The Day in the Life" ended with Booth and Brennan caught in an explosion after they were trapped in the laboratory.
Peterson explained, “Brennan gets delayed because she’s worried about the evidence. Booth isn’t going to leave without her, and neither are Hodgins and Angela. Ultimately, it’s really about family. Everyone is doing their part to keep the family together and that ended up putting them in danger.”
‘Bones’ season 12’s episode 12, titled “The Final Chapter: The End In the End,” is scheduled to air on Fox on March 28, 2017.
