“BoJack Horseman” season 6 will pick up from a slew of major changes in the protagonists’ lives. However, Hollyhock (Aparna Nancherla) is one particular character that had a few scenes last year. Will this change in the upcoming episodes of the widely popular Netflix animated series?
The entire show revolves around the characters’ struggles and the very honest portrayals of mental health issues, addiction, dysfunctional families, and frustrations in the personal and professional aspects of life. The fifth season finale was quite different than the earlier ones because it somehow sets up a hopeful “BoJack Horseman” season 6. BoJack (Will Arnett) finally accepts help, Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F. Tompkins) gets engaged again, and Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris) finally has a baby through adoption.
Many fans might have been wishing that they saw more of Hollyhock in season 5, especially after her major introduction arc in the fourth installment. Hollyhock is probably the only one who brings out a very rare, sweet side of BoJack. This makes it very understandable if fans would want to see them bond more in “BoJack Horseman” season 6.
However, Hollyhock could have more in her storyline for “BoJack Horseman” season 6 aside from her relationship with BoJack. It can be recalled that she once opened up to BoJack about hearing a voice in her head saying she is “worthless, stupid, and ugly.” This resulted in some fans thinking that she might also be struggling with a mental health illness that the show has yet to address.
This possible Hollyhock arc could somewhat feel like new territory for the franchise in “BoJack Horseman” season 6. While it stays on the theme of personal and mental health struggle, Hollyhock is not like the other characters. She is younger and has fathers that genuinely love her. Unlike the others, Hollyhock seemed happier and was able to bounce back pretty quickly from the trauma caused by Beatrice (Wendie Malick). But if there is one thing the show taught its fans, people going on about their normal daily routines and seemingly confident and happy do not always feel that way inside.
