‘Black Mirror’ season 4 cast and crew were recently spotted filming in Dartmoor in England. Meanwhile, creator Charlie Brooker expressed his worries over having his grim predictions for the future becoming reality.
According to Devon Live, the fourth season of the British science-fiction anthology television series aired on Netflix is currently filming in Dartmoor in southern Devon, England. A spokeswoman for the Dartmoor National Park revealed, "I can confirm that the film crew for Black Mirror are filming on Dartmoor at the moment."
Dartmoore is an area of moorland protected by National Park status and is managed by the Dartmoor National Park Authority. It is also a popular tourist destination. Although no further details have been revealed, it was speculated that actor Rafe Spall is one of the cast members currently shooting in the area.
Spall first appeared in the series’ 2014 Christmas special episode, titled “White Christmas,” alongside John Hamm, Oona Chaplin, and Natalie Tena. The 34-year old English actor is the son of the multi award-winning actor Timothy Spall and is best known for his roles on films such as 2011’s ‘One Day,’ 2011’s ‘Anonymous,’ 2012’s ‘Prometheus,’ 2015’s ‘The Big Short,’ as well as television series such as ‘The Shadow Line,’ ‘Pete versus Life.’
It was speculated that the cast and crew from ‘Black Mirror’ season 4 are staying at Launceston's recently reopened Eagle House Hotel. However, a representative for Netflix declined to provide more information as of the present.
Meanwhile, creator Charlie Brooker revealed during an exclusive interview with Radio Times that the plot lines for the upcoming season will “quite far out.” Although he remains optimistic that none of his stories will come true in the future, he still expressed his worries over having his predictions turn into real events.
Brooker said, "Weirdly there was one news story I read the other day that I thought ‘Oh, how does that reflect on an episode we’ve already finished shooting?’… There was some new discovery made. Hopefully not, but then when writing them I never think any of these are going to come true, and then it seems like some of them do.”
He continued, “Which is a bit worrisome, generally… For this coming season they’re quite far out there so I don’t envisage that being a problem. Although if that does happen the world is really f***ed... well, the world is really f***ed, so we'll see."
‘Black Mirror’ season 4 is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in late 2017.
