“Black Lightning” Season 2 is looking to add another member to its superhero ensemble. The character in question is Emily Briggs, also known as Looker, a mousy bank teller whose alien ancestry was revealed when she was exposed to Halley’s Comet when it passed Earth, The Hashtag Show reported.
The actress playing Looker has yet to be named and The CW is looking for a talent who will fit the bill, particularly a Caucasian woman in her early 20s. Looker has been described as “a youthful looking woman with a soul that has lived for a long time, whose eyes are ethereal and whose look is penetrating.” It’s still unclear how “Black Lightning” Season 2 will introduce this character since she has quite the superhero origin story.
Looker first made her debut in the DC comics in “Batman and the Outsiders #25,” which was released in 1985. Briggs’ origin story began when she was kidnapped by the inhabitants of the underground civilization known as Abyssia. The Outsiders set out to rescue the bank teller but the fight revealed her alien heritage similar to theirs, which eventually led them to recruit her into their ranks. “Black Lightning” Season 2 can potentially follow the same path, starting from when Briggs was normal to the blossoming of her dormant metahuman abilities.
These abilities include telepathy, telekinesis, vampirism, and more. Briggs got her vampiric powers when she was attacked by a vampire. Ironically, the incident made her more powerful as her metagene voided the weaknesses that come from being a vampire while taking advantage of the talents that the curse brings, including mist and animal transformation during nighttime. With all of these fragmented superpower developments, “Black Lightning” Season 2 is likely going to introduce Looker as someone who already got hold of her abilities in order for the show to save time.
As for her name, Briggs took on the moniker Looker because her initial transformation made her conventionally attractive. And those she couldn’t charm with her physical looks she influenced with her telepathy. Jefferson Price (Cress Williams) will surely find a formidable ally in Looker when “Black Lightning” Season 2 finally drops on Oct. 9, 2018.
