BitGo bitcoin wallet suffers DDoS attack, resumes operations

BitGo Inc., a leading multi-sig bitcoin wallet provider, announced on Saturday that it was under Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack. However, the same day itself, the company announced that it was operational again.

Following the announcement regarding the DDoS attack, bitcoin debit card provider Wirex sent an email to its customers suggesting them to avoid making transactions on the Wirex platform until it could verify from BitGo that its services have been resumed, Cryptocoinsnews reported.

“We, therefore, recommend to avoid making any transactions via E-Coin/Wirex platform until confirmation from BitGo that the services have been resumed,” the Wirex email read.

E-Coin, which recently rebranded as Wirex, in February integrated BitGo Instant – the world’s first way to safely receive zero-confirm Bitcoin transactions with a full financial guarantee – enabling its users to send bitcoin and load their cards instantly, without having to wait for three confirmations.

Wirex Limited launched Wirex earlier this year as the world’s first hybrid personal banking solution that combines the benefits of blockchain technology into everyday finances. It offers both physical and virtual bitcoin debit cards. Wirex users were able to send bitcoin from within the BitGo Instant network.

Cryptocoinsnews reported that Bitstamp, Bitfinex, Unocoin, Kraken and the Fold app are some of the other cryptocurrency exchanges and apps the offer BitGo Instant.
