When designing the Scykei Logo, each iteration and the selection of every element reflected the team's deep understanding of the brand's spirit and continuous exploration of aesthetics.
Sprout of Inspiration
In the early stages, Jess sat in his New York studio facing a blank canvas, pondering how to imbue the the brand's essense into its Logo. Since leaving campus, he often reflects those nights playing computer games with college friends. Back then, electronic devices, despite their limited functionality, sparked boundless creativity and curiosity within him. One day, while visiting his father at home, Jess happened to glimpse an old computer that had been in his family for decades. This reminded him of the raw digital fonts and colors from the early 1970s PC era, ultimately inspiring Scykei's Logo.
Exploration of Simplicity and Personality
In countless late-night brainstorming sessions, the design team gathered to discuss how to incorporate Scykei's pursuit of modern design aesthetics into the logo. Someone suggested using sleek sans-serif font to highlight the brand's simplicity. However, Jess felt that this was not enough; beyond simplicity, the Scykei logo should also showcase the brand's personality.
Incorporating Symbolic Elements
After numerous attempts and rejections, the team decided to incorporate symbolic elements. By combining letters with dot matrix elements, a logo that integrates both abstract and concrete elements came out, giving the design new life.
Enhancing the Sense of Sophistication
As Scykei evolved, the logo needs to be refined. In terms of typography, the team abandoned abstract fonts and adopted uppercase English letters for simplicity and clarity. For color, Scykei moved away from its original blue-white palette. As a tribute to the PC era, it decided to use the classic black and white. This not only amplified the brand's luxurious and sophisticated feel but also bolstered the logo's recognition through strong contrast.
Countless sleepless nights culminated in this simple yet distinctive, classic yet modern logo. Scykei believes that this logo will accompany the brand into a broader future, serving as a bridge connecting the past and the future, tradition and innovation.
