“BioShock: The Collection” is almost here and 2K Games is providing instructions to upgrade from the classics versions on the PC for those who don’t know how. The recommended PC specs to run the visually upgraded titles are also out.
PC gamers who bought their digital copy of “BioShock” and “BioShock 2” via Steam have nothing to worry about since their copies of the games would be automatically upgraded once they launch their titles, VG247 reports. For those who bought the games in Disc form or through Games for Windows Live, however, things can get a bit tricky.
Those who bought the disc version of the games will need to submit a proof of purchase for the games through the 2K Games support page. Instructions are provided on the page itself, so customers just have to follow what’s written.
Gamers who bought the titles via Games for Windows Live can upgrade by providing the key that came with their copy. This will then allow the owners to activate the enhanced versions via Steam. The FAQ section at 2K Games will also provide them with the necessary information on how to do so.
Now, for the specifications required to play the game, gamers can go over to Steam’s page for the collection to get all of the information. Generally speaking, though, the bundle will take up 70GB of hard drive space.
In terms of OS, Windows 7 and above is recommended. Minimum specs for the GPUs include “AMD Radeon HD 7770” or “NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560,” so anything above those will do the job. To get the best experience, however, “2GB ATI Radeon HD 7970” or “2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770” are the recommended GPUs to play both games on the PC.
2K Games already mentioned that “BioShock: Infinite” will not be included in the collection for the PC because the game already meets HD levels for the platform. Players who have the rig can play the games at 1080p and at 60fps.
