‘BioShock’ Is Back, Players Can Now Return To ‘Rapture’

“BioShock” is the first-person shooter game that rocked the world when it was released back in 2007. Combining elements of the thriller genre with some game changing fight mechanics that blended sci-fi and fantasy, not to mention one of the best story and plot twists in gaming history, the title from “2K Games” is already a classic. Now, after months of rumors and speculations, the re-mastered versions of all three “BioShock” games are officially set for release.

The re-mastered versions of “BioShock,” “BioShock 2,” and “BioShock Infinite” will feature improved graphics with displays running at 1080p, at 60 frames per minute, according to VentureBeat. The bundle is slated for release on September 13 and it will contain all downloadable content for the single-player campaign mode.

“BioShock 2” will not come with the multiplayer mode, according to “2K Games,” but not too many players are likely to miss that feature since it wasn’t that popular even during its original release. For the PC version, “BioShock Infinite” will not feature a lot of graphical enhancements since it is already capable of running at high settings.

VentureBeat also notes that this trend of re-releasing old games in new packages simply refuses to die out, despite the expectations by many that it would. Other games that will receive the HD treatment include the “Halo” series and the “Uncharted” franchise.

Nerdist reports that the bundle will cost $59.99 for the retail price. Considering that it will come with all three games and all the single-player DLCs, the site believes that the value significantly outweighs the cost, particularly for those who don’t have any of the games in their original format.

News about a possible remaster for the trilogy has been circulating the web for months, with “2K Games” refusing to confirm the rumors. The publisher even went so far as to take down certain images posted that fuelled the murmurings. Now, it’s finally official and the company is inviting players back to “Rapture.”
