When it comes to Bethesda Game Studios, one of the most pressing questions that fans always ask is when the next installment in one of its franchises is going to come out. This applies to the “Fallout” series more than most, which is why the most recent teaser that the company released is making such huge waves on the web. It’s basically a teaser of an announcement that could be more explicit in its message.
This new development came by way of a tweet from Bethesda’s official account featuring a GIF of a countdown screen that fans of "Fallout" games will find familiar, along with a caption that reads #PleaseStandby. Now, the only thing that has been made clear, at this point, is that the teaser has something to do with the IP. However, it isn’t clear what it is going to be about specifically.
Many are currently speculating that the teaser is about the next installment in the "Fallout" franchise. Some are also thinking that perhaps it’s about a remaster of some of the older games in the series, such as "Fallout 3" or "Fallout New Vegas."
This wouldn’t be the first time that Bethesda has dusted off an older game to keep making money off of it. "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" is an excellent example of this, having been remastered and released as a virtual reality game, and most recently, as a portable title on the Nintendo Switch.
As IGN notes, it’s inevitable that the company will be releasing "Fallout 5" at some point in time. It’s too valuable a series to allow to go to waste. However, with "Fallout 4" being released in 2015, it’s unlikely that the studio has already finished developing the sequel. As such, it’s more likely that this is simply an extra event that the company has cooked up.
