Samsung’s latest system-on-chip variant, Exynos 9810, will power the upcoming Galaxy Note 9, at least according to a benchmark test result that recently surfaced online.
The South Korean smartphone maker is yet to make any official announcement related to the Galaxy Note 9. However, as already proven in the past, the lack of word from Samsung has not stopped leaked information from stirring up speculations on their anticipated smartphones.
A Geekbench test recently surfaced, as per SamMobile’s report, for a Samsung device with model number SM-N960N.
Naturally, benchmark tests taken for unreleased handsets do not specifically mention the official device names. Notably, however, the Geekbench result in question is most likely for a device that will follow the Galaxy Note 8, which was assigned with model number SM-N950. The additional “N” at the end of the identifier hints that the tested smartphone is the variant for South Korea region.
Meanwhile, clearly indicated in the tested device’s system information is the use of a SoC labeled “universal9810.” Reports now suggest that this refers to Samsung’s Exynos 9810 — the latest in the Exynos 9 series.
Apart from the typical improvements in performance speeds, the Exynos 9810 was built to cater to the demands of deep learning-based software. According to its official product page, “The Exynos 9810 enables a depth sensing feature to scan user’s face in 3D for face tracking filters as well as strong security when unlocking a device with one’s face.”
As for other information provided in the Geekbench result, the tested Samsung SM-N950N device is running Android Oreo 8.1 and with a 6GB random access memory.
Meanwhile, the information revealed by the recent benchmark result is quite expected considering Samsung’s known cycle of smartphone development. However, SamMobile added that a bigger cause for curiosity will be the time it will take for Samsung to roll out Android P updates to their flagship devices.
