“Battlefield 2042” Update 4.0 is just around the corner as it is confirmed to go live on Tuesday, April 19. Before the fixes and improvements were released, EA unveiled the official patch notes on Monday that confirmed the much-requested return of voice chat features.
The lack of voice chat support has been one of the most criticized aspects of “Battlefield 2042” since the game launched last November. That means players have been going on battles without an in-game function to easily communicate and strategize. While it may be a few months late, the good news is EA confirmed that Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) support is one of the biggest changes coming in Update 4.0.
There is one caveat, though. The “Battlefield 2042” Update 4.0 patch notes indicate that voice chat can only be set up for Party and Squad, and Engadget notes can only support up to four players at a time. But other players might find this smaller voice chat group more favorable because having as many as 64 players at a time in a single voice chat could get chaotic and counterproductive.
As DICE teased last week, the “Battlefield 2042” Update 4.0 will have more than 400 patches, bug fixes, and improvements that are all detailed in the official release notes. There are a number of map fixes that will go live this week, including a bug that prevented players and AI Soldiers from spawning in the right HQ while playing in the Breakaway map. Players should no longer incur damage from the sprinklers in Kaleidoscope, and their active time will decrease from 20 to 9 seconds.
DICE has yet to address requests to revamp the entire Specialists system to bring back features that resemble the old Class system, but this week’s update will have some improvements for certain Specialists. For one, the developers replaced Paik’s Threat Perception with Eagle Eyed trait. “Players damaged by Paik are now spotted for everyone,” DICE added.

In a Twitter post, the developer told players that Update 4.0 will not require downtime for maintenance. Fans can quickly join “Battlefield 2042” to check out these changes once they go live on April 19, at 8 a.m. UTC / 4 a.m. EDT.
