Bae Suzy talked about her shift from recording music to acting in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan Korea for its November 2023 issue. The "Doona" star even recounted her experience when she first debuted as a K-pop group member and eventually started doing films and TV series.
Bae Suzy Relates With Her Character in 'Doona!'
According to Suzy, she has a special attachment to her character in "Doona!" since she can relate and is able to understand Doona's life better than anyone else. The South Korean actress, however, highlighted that she could distinguish the differences between her and her character.
"It also brought back a lot of memories from when I was an idol. I was in my early twenties and didn't have the time to feel and express pain like Doona. I kept my emotions to myself. But Doona feels all of her emotions and goes through a hard time to her heart's content," Suzy told the publication.
Bae Suzy, who describes her character as someone who has a "vicious side that speaks meanly on purpose," says she, like everyone else, wants to be loved. Moreover, the actress hinted at potential plot twists for her character, hoping that viewers will get to see and comprehend Lee Doona.
Bae Suzy Remembers Her Life as K-Pop Idol
When asked if she would have gone the same path as Lee Doona and lived her life as an idol, the former ladylove of Lee Min Ho admitted that she had a good time during those times. "I think I would have lived very well. I enjoyed it more than anyone else," Suzy said, per SBS Star.
The Hallyu star confessed that she "became more confident" after shifting from music to acting, especially after portraying her role in "Anna." Now, little by little, I feel like I need to trust myself a little more. After that, I feel very satisfied that people don't just see me as a bright and pretty person," Bae Suzy went on.
"Doona" debuts on Friday, October 20, exclusively on Netflix. The series also stars Yang Se Jong and was directed by Lee Jeong Hyo of "Crash Landing On You."
To recall, Suzy debuted in 2010 as a member of the K-pop group named Miss A. She remained with the troop until their disbandment in 2017.
