Jungkook, a member of South Korea’s boyband, BTS has been listed as the no. 1 Kpop idol in terms of global brand reputation. This means that he is the most searched and trending Kpop artist these days as per the research conducted by the American company, Zig Media.
According to Allkpop, some of the BTS members were the only Koreans who made it on the list and Jungkook bested them all. In the ranking, he was followed by RM, Jimin, V, and Hope. As posted on Zig Media site, the youngest member of the group’s ranking is up by 204 points, the highest score among the BTS members who made to the list from May 9 to 15.
Zig Media is based in Brooklyn and The New York Times dubbed is as the “Instagram of news” as it simplifies the users’ consumption of news by compiling the global ranking based on coverage from all media publishers and around the web. It also measures the readers’ engagement, trends, and social media followings records in days, weeks, and months.
In any case, Jungkook also made another record when his fan club in China ordered thousands of albums featuring their newly-released “Map of the Soul: Persona.” The number of orders was revealed when the fan base gathered the receipts from Korean retailers, and these were posted online.
As per the report, the receipts showed purchases were done in batches of 2,000, 5,000 and 60,000 copies. In all, the fans bought around 150,000 albums, and these are from Jungkook’s fan base alone. It was mentioned that another BTS member, V, also has fans who bought the albums in big numbers and it also totaled to over 150,000 just like Jungkook’s.
Meanwhile, Jungkook and the rest of the BTS members recently appeared on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” where they paid tribute to Beatles. They performed “Hey Jude” and discussed about their “Map of the Soul: Persona” album that peaked at no. 1 on Billboard when it was released last month.
