“Avatar 2” is long overdue but it promises amazing visuals and extraordinary set so this should be enough to compensate fans for the long wait to the “Avatar” sequel. What’s more, James Cameron is offering three more follow-up films and the good news is that filming for these sequels was completed already thus, there will be shorter waiting time after the second installment is released.
Now, the titles for the upcoming sequels including the “Avatar 2” have not been officially released but they were leaked last year. According to BBC, the next films are called: “Avatar: The Way Of Water,” “Avatar: The Seed Bearer,” “Avatar: The Tulkun Rider” and “Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.”
It turned out that these titles are not just rumors but they are correct. Entertainment Tonight interviewed James Cameron during the premiere “Alita: Battle Angel” on Feb. 5. and ET’s Ashley Crossan pushed the director to say something about the leaked titles and he just spilled the beans.
“I can neither confirm nor deny,” the director told Crossan. “All right, here’s what I’ll tell ya. Those titles are among titles that are in consideration. And no final decisions have been made yet.”
Apart from this detail, the concept for “Avatar 2” was also revealed although the exact plot remained a mystery. James Cameron previously shared that they prepared an underwater set for the second movie installment and this reveal makes sense because this sequel has been titled “Avatar: The Way Of Water.”
Stephen Lang who plays Miles Quaritch also affirmed the underwater theme for “Avatar 2.” In his interview with IGN, he shared that they faced challenges while filming because they are submerged most of the time.
"The major new challenge. I think there are a number of new challenges, but one of them, certainly, has been doing underwater performance capture," he said.
Meanwhile, James Cameron will unleash “Avatar 2” on Dec. 18, 2020. This will be followed by the third sequel which was confirmed to premiere on Dec. 17, 2021.
