The Computex event in Taipei just kicked off and Asus is showing off some big muscles in miniature form to celebrate the start of the conference. Enter the new UX370UA ZenBook Flip S, the thinnest high-end convertible laptop in the world. Despite its diminutive size, however, this device packs some massive motors for the demanding user.
In this sense, convertible basically means a 2-in-1 device that can be used as both a laptop and as a tablet. In the case of the upcoming Flip S, which is set to hit the market soon, it’s currently considered the world’s thinnest, Forbes reports. The units are equipped with Intel’s latest “Kaby Lake” processors, with the Core i7-7500U residing in the most powerful model.
This isn’t to say that the base models are anything to sneeze at either. Customers can look forward to an 8GB RAM, a Core i5-7200U processor, and a 256GB SSD for storage just for the most affordable options. On that note, there are plenty of advantage in going for the pricier units since they use NVMe instead of the standard SATA.
With regards to the display, the standard 13.3-inch screen will offer 1080p to 4K resolutions. It will also have 178-degree viewing angles and a sweet 60Hz refresh rate. To protect the sensitive touch-enabled screen, it will also be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, so there’s no need to worry about it breaking or scratching easily.
Aside from the units’ actual features, however, some publications are more impressed with the color accents that Asus is infusing its laptops with. As The Verge notes, both the ZenBook Flip S and Deluxe laptops are lined with a nice line of golden sheen, which results in a truly astonishing appearance of boldness and luxury.
This is not the first time that Asus decided to adopt a bit of King Midas flair but the company seems to have refined its method and design techniques. The result is that sweet sprinkle of extravagance without crossing over into tacky territory.
