“Arrested Development” Season 5, Original Cast Confirmed; Comedy Series To Return To Netflix in 2018

Be ready for more Bluths next year. Deadline reported that Season 5 of “Arrested Development” has been officially ordered by Netflix.

Slated for 2018, Season 5 will bring original cast members Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat, along with show creator Mitchell Hurwitz.

Hurwitz said in a statement, "In talks with Netflix we all felt that that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days. I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life."

Netflix boss Ted Sarantos added, "The Bluths will collectively be spending more quality time with their millions of fans around the world."

The first sign that “Arrested Development” will have a fifth installment coming was a tweet from Bateman, who on May 12 tweeted that he has sign to join the show’s return on the streaming series, Fox News said. He tweeted then, “Look very probable I'm going to put some miles on the Stair Car this summer. Just officially signed on to more ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT today.”

Along with the report of the show’s official return, a promo photo was released on Twitter showing a padlocked orange shipping container comes with a sign that read, “Do not let the cast of Arrested Development out under any circumstances.”
