Apple iPhone 8 Photos Leaked; Improvements Might Make It “More Expensive”?

A series of photos that are purported renders of Apple’s highly-anticipated iPhone 8 are making the rounds online.

According to Max Langridge for Pocket-Lint.com, Jermaine Spit envisioned iPhone 8 as the first smartphone with two screens, one on each side. One screen is said to be dedicated for watching video content, while the other is reserved for everyday tasks and to keep the phone’s strong battery life. The designs in Spit’s render appears to have been inspired by the iPhone 4 and 5. The external design shows the screens banded by a metal band around the middle, creating a sandwich. This was shut down by Langridge, if rumors about the new variants featuring an all-glass design and a bezel-less front screen are true.

On the other hand, the iPhone8look.com showed iPhone 8 variants like the phablet counterparts, and that the units are purportedly too thin and too square. Moreover, Langridge said the camera locations are off.

Ewan Spence on Forbes.com said the improvement might be as simple as a delicate change. He believes that the new iPhone 8 might reflect Apple’s decision to either go with wireless charging over an air gap or via the inductive method.

Whichever’s render is true, analysts have said that the new iPhone 8 will not come in cheap, and that people will have no qualms about investing in Apple over USD300 alternatives that offer similar features. BGR quoted Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin, who told The Journal, “The market is saying, ‘We still value what Apple is doing and value it enough to even spend more on it,’”

Tim Arcuri of Cowen & Co agree. Arcuri’s company did a market report confirming that the specs difference on iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 did wonders in terms of mobile sales, and will give Apple the warrant to increase smartphone unit prices.

“The iPhone base wants a new, cooler iPhone. There’s a lot of pent-up demand for a product with newer, cooler features,” he said.
