In an unprecedented move, Apple finally acknowledged that it let its Pro users down by giving them underpowered and overpriced units with the MacBook Pro. Now, the tech giant is playing catch-up in order to regain the trust of the consumers it lost. Unfortunately for Apple and the remaining loyal fan base, it seems more powerful hardware won’t be available until at least next year.
When the newest MacBook Pros came out a few months ago, a lot of the core consumers who were actually looking forward to the units were sorely disappointed. Not only were the units not as powerful as they were expecting, they even came with some unnecessary features that were clearly meant to make the line-up more mainstream. This ended up costing Apple the confidence of users and its place in the Consumer Report confidence list.
It seems Apple has since realized its mistake and admitted as much in its own way, Business Insider reports. Breaking tradition, the tech giant actually pre-announced several products that it is working on, which it has rarely ever done in its history as a company.
Considering how infamous Apple has become within Pro circles, however, it’s hardly surprising that it was willing to risk its reputation shrouded in mystery. A lot of programmers, graphics artists, video producers, and content creators have been pummelling the company for outright abandoning its core user base.
During the unofficial announcement, the company’s executives made some pretty vague promises about redesigning the Pro line-up, along with the iMac, which has been notably absent over the last few years. Apple hopes that when the products come out, which they are hoping would be next year, consumers will find the upgrades suitable, Forbes reports.
All in all, it’s a positive sign that Apple realized how far it has drifted from its original path, which was to offer innovative designs and consumer-focused products. By moving away from its current trajectory, perhaps there is hope that the next MacOS offerings will actually impress.
