Fast food chains are known for their playful pranks on April Fools' Day. Still, Aoki's, a popular pizza chain with stores in Nagoya, Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka prefectures, took it further this year by turning a prank into reality. On 1 April, Aoki's teased its fans with an image of a golden pizza, initially thought to be an April Fools' joke.
However, to the surprise of many, Aoki confirmed that the "Golden Super Combo" pizza would be available.
In Response to Market Trends
According to Sora News 24, the decision to release this extravagant pizza was influenced by the soaring price of gold and the Nikkei average stock price surpassing 40,000 yen (US$263.37). Priced at 40,000 yen, the Golden Super Combo pizza is covered entirely in gold leaf, adding a touch of luxury to Aoki's menu.
A Symbol of Luxury and Tradition
A press release reported that the Golden Super Combo, a lavish twist on Aoki's popular "Super Combo" pizza, is adorned with pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, onions, green pepper, fresh mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and extra cheese. By gilding the pizza with gold leaf, Aoki's aims to capture the ostentatious spirit of Nagoya, where the color gold symbolizes luck and prosperity.
Perfect for Milestones and Celebrations
Dubbed as the ideal choice for significant life events such as engagements, new school years, or job promotions, the Golden Super Combo is available for purchase from 1-3 April. Interested buyers should note that the pizza may arrive cold due to the gold leaf covering, adding a unique twist to this opulent offering.
In an innovative move to amplify the customer experience, Aoki's has also announced a special arrangement for those who purchase the Golden Super Combo pizza. The buyers will be entered into a raffle, with the winner receiving a bespoke gold pizza cutter.
This not only adds an element of excitement to the purchasing process but also elevates the luxury of the entire experience. The pizza cutter, crafted with precision and care, mirrors the thoughtfulness and extravagance the Golden Super Combo represents.
This unique marketing approach, blending traditional luxury with modern culinary creativity, showcases Aoki's commitment to offering its customers more than just food – it's about providing an unforgettable experience.
