Anthropic PBC, an artificial intelligence startup established in 2021, announced on Wednesday, May 1, that it launched an iOS app for its Claude 3 AI chatbot or language models. The company also unveiled a new subscription option made especially for group collaborations.
Anthropic’s Claude 3 AI iOS mobile app is said to be similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT, so the company can use this to compete in the chatbot category. As per ARS Technica, before the new iOS app was created, the Claude AI was only accessible via the website and other apps that can integrate Claude through Application Programming Interface (API).
AI Wars and Anthropic’s New iOS App
With the arrival of the Claude 3 iOS app, the AI wars just intensified. One of Anthropic’s goals for the app's introduction is to compete with ChatGPT, so the heat is on as the company makes its chatbot available on iPhones. The latter is now facing serious competition as millions of mobile phone owners use iOS.
Similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Claude's iOS app serves as an avenue for chatbot interactions and allows images to be uploaded for analysis. For now, this will only be available on Apple devices, but Anthropic said it will create one for Android and will release this app soon.
The Claude 3 LLM
The AI company debuted the Claude 3 large language model family in March of this year. It features three varying model sizes: the Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet, and Claude Haiku. The app uses Sonnet for regular users, and Pro users rely on the Opus.
Moreover, The Guardian reported that the third version of the Claude LLM is offered by Anthropics directly to users via its website. Opus users are also in the paying subscribers’ tier, and they have full access to the system.
“We are announcing the launch of the Claude iOS app, so you can access Claude from anywhere, any time,” Anthropic said in its announcement. “The Claude iOS app features include seamless syncing with web chats, Vision capabilities: Use photos from your library, take new photos, or upload files so you can have real-time image analysis, and the Open Access where users across all plans, including Pro and Team, can download the app free of charge.”
